January Thaw and other timely topics...

I can't believe that we're smack dab in the middle of January. I think that December of 2010 was possibly the busiest, most hectic, most wonderful December ever! 2010 brought us a new son-in-law, Drew. He has made our sweet MacKenna a happy bride. It's so weird and wonderful to add to the clan. I just love that boy  and have come to adore his family. My little girl could not have possibly found a more wonderful young man and a nicer family to marry into. Drew's Mama, Lauree, is such a great lady! We were immediately taken in and treated like family while we were in California. You know how there are just some people that you want to just be around all of the time...Yep, that was how it was.

And, okay, when MacKenna said that she wanted to get married in the San Diego temple, I was thinking to myself, oh man, all of the way in San Diego... But, after seeing that beautiful temple and absorbing the experiences there, I wouldn't change anything. Even with all of the rain. Who knew that there would be no sunshine in southern Cali for that long? Another point is that I just love my family. They are fun people. Quirky, loud, funny people.

And now, January. We came home to snow and lots of it. And then it snowed some more and got SO cold. One morning at 5:40 a.m. it was 4 degrees. I had to wear socks! Oh, I hate wearing socks, but I am not stupid either. I wore socks. And next, the January thaw...it was near 50 yesterday and will be today! Then snow again. But, I'm pretty sure that I won't be seeing 4 degrees again...at least, I hope not. My inner so cal soul is crying...

2010 was a year of growth and change and it went by way too fast. Now here is 2011, and i have set some goals for more growth and change. I'm sure that it will be a bumpy ride. I just hope that I can find time to enjoy the ride. Hand me my sunglasses and my diet Dr. pepper cuz' I wanna put the top down and enjoy the sunshine this year...okay, when it's warm enough to go without socks...

  1. I hate that I have to wear socks too. I'm trying to figure out if you passed your sock hatred through your genes or if I subconsciously picked up on it slash absorbed it when I was little...

  2. Yep, one wonders...is it nature or nurture? The eternal child development question! But, it just makes me feel closer to you!
    Love ya!

  3. I hate socks, too! Clearly I've married into the right family.
